We're Okay (Despite Michigan's Attempt to Thwart Us with Its Infamous Left Turns)!

I've heard through the grapevine that people were starting to get worried about us over here since I haven't blogged in awhile. Sorry about that. I got quite busy the week before vacation (our vacation was all last week), and I didn't get a chance to blog. So, I'm making some time right quick to knock one out for those of you who have been anxious.

Nora basically grew up in the past two weeks (that's how it feels, anyway). She's changed so much, I don't even know where to begin. She says so many things now, and she does so many things. It just exploded on us. Instead of saying maybe one new word a day, she might say three or four new ones. Every minute, she's doing something she wasn't doing before (like climbing up on the toilet, wiping her nose with every tissue, and putting the tissues back in the box). It's just nuts!

Willis and I both got to spend a lot of quality time with her last week, and it was a blast! The weather in Michigan wasn't so great (cold, windy, and rainy), but we managed to enjoy ourselves anyway. Here are some pics from the last week and a half:

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket She was having some fun with a cooler. Photobucket Photobucket They were reading up on the world news. Photobucket Photobucket Nora liked to wander about the resort. Photobucket Photobucket We weren't the only guests. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket PhotobucketI think she missed Hobbes. (She sure loved this silly, concrete dog.)  Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Daddy took her out onto the pier a few different times. She liked it. She also got really good at holding our hands while she walked this past week. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket More wandering about the resort. Photobucket In the car on the way up to Bear Lake. Photobucket Photobucket This is her new trick. Photobucket Photobucket She loves that dog.

Also, here's a video from vacation. I only took one, and I'll admit that it's not terribly eventful:

We got to see some friends and faces that we've not seen in ages over the weekend (we went to the Jeff McGee/Christy Synowiec wedding). That was refreshing! Everyone seems to be doing really well, and that is cool to know.

My belly is enormous now. The weight gain is up to a whopping six pounds for this pregnancy so far. I need to look back in my blog for my weight gain to this point last time. I wonder if I even posted it. It was probably already, like, at least 15-20 pounds by this week (almost 27 weeks). I just started having some awesome heartburn, so that's fun. I've been throwing up in my mouth a lot. This kid moves around a lot, too. I can already tell he's going to have some serious legs when he gets here.

I managed to read the book Twilight over vacation. I'm actually really amazed at myself because that book is not skinny, and I'm really terrible about getting through thick books hastily. (I'm an incredibly slow reader.) I have mixed feelings about it so far. I think the author was really good at capturing the anxiety of the American teenager (which took me back—big time). The only thing that bothered me was that the affection between the lovers was a bit, um, gratuitous. I realize they're teenagers in love and all, but I felt a little like I was witnessing some serious PDA from time to time. I was always a little grossed out by that as a teen in my high school hallway (or bus), and I guess I still am. It was a wee bit mushy in spots, but it wasn't so bad that I quit reading. So, it's still got to be pretty good if it kept my attention after all that. I'll probably read the rest of them, too, if I can get ahold of the books. I apparently got lucky that it was even at the library. The woman who was checking me out looked at me (rather irritably) and said, "Ah! I have that book on hold! How did you find that?"

"It was just sitting there, looking at me on the shelf," I said. None of the other books of the series were there.

Other than all that bizness, I don't have a whole lot to report. We're still here, and we're still boring. You didn't really miss anything (besides Nora growing up all of a sudden and me being more pregnant). Have a good week!

Dilly out.

  2. @Sara - September 2nd is supposed to be the day. Willi's got his bets on late August, though.
